A lot of young people have given up in life and are simply existing not living, not dreaming, not building. I know that feeling intimately. I’ve been dry inside before, moving through days with no spark, repeating the same sentence to myself: “We aren’t taking this world anywhere.”
But something dawned on me. Humans don’t go to the market and buy things they won’t use. And God intentional, purposeful, strategic does not bring anyone into this world without a use, a purpose, a calling. If you woke up today, you are not an accident. You are not a spare part in creation. You are here because something in this world requires you.
We see people living the lives we want graduating, traveling, building careers, finding love, discovering purpose and we wonder if we will ever catch up. We wonder if one setback has permanently disqualified us. I used to think that way too, especially when I was homeless, stuck, or watching my peers move forward while I stayed behind. But I learned something: you can come back from anything.
Sp here are some principles that rebuilt my life
- Admit You’ve Fallen
You can lie to others. Others can lie to you. But never lie to yourself.
Self-deception is the fastest way to stay stuck.
Say it plainly:
“I have fallen. I am not where I want to be.”
This honesty is not weakness it is the beginning of strength. You cannot fix what you refuse to acknowledge.
- Define Where You Actually Want to Be
Not the vague dream. Not the fantasy. The real destination.
Ask yourself two questions:
- Where do I want to be?
- When do I want to get there?
Clarity creates direction. Direction creates momentum. Momentum creates transformation.
- Find Someone Who Can Help You
Every comeback story has a helper a mentor, a friend, a stranger, a resource, a book, a community.
You don’t rise alone. You rise with support.
Look for people who:
- Have done what you want to do
- Speak life into you
- Hold you accountable
- Challenge your excuses
And then let them help you. Pride is expensive. Guidance is free.
- Gather Resources Relentlessly
Your future is built from information.
Books, videos, courses, mentors, communities these are tools for resurrection.
You don’t need to know everything. You just need to know enough to start.
- Go All In
Half-effort produces half-results.
When you finally decide to rebuild your life, do it with intensity.
Wake up earlier.
Study harder.
Apply everywhere.
Ask questions.
Take risks.
Move with urgency.
Your comeback requires obsession.
- Accept That Setbacks Are Part of the Story
Setbacks are not signs that you’re finished.
They are signs that you’re becoming.
Every person you admire has fallen some harder than you.
The difference is that they stood up again.
- Rewrite Your Identity
Stop calling yourself “behind,” “late,” “broken,” or “failed.”
Identity shapes behavior.
Behavior shapes destiny.
Say instead:
- “I am rebuilding.”
- “I am rising.”
- “I am becoming who I was meant to be.”
Your words are the architecture of your future.
- Build Small Wins Daily
Comebacks are not built in one dramatic moment.
They are built in small, consistent victories:
- One chapter read
- One application submitted
- One workout completed
- One prayer whispered
- One step forward
Small wins compound into big breakthroughs.
- Remember Why You Started
For me, it was simple:
I wanted to break generational barriers.
I wanted to inspire people with my story.
I wanted to become the first in my family to travel abroad, graduate college, and pursue law.
Your “why” is your fuel.
When you feel tired, return to it.
- Understand That You Can Always Begin Again
Life is not linear.
Purpose is not linear.
Healing is not linear.
You can start over at 18, 25, 40, or 60.
You can rebuild after homelessness, heartbreak, failure, addiction, depression, or disappointment.
You can come back from anything because you are not defined by what happened to you, but by what you decide to do next.
You are not here for no reason,You are not useless,You are not forgotten, You are not too late.
If God woke you up today, He still has a plan for you.
And if you still have breath, you still have a future.
Your comeback begins the moment you decide to stop surviving and start living.
